Abstract

This article has the purpose to highlight that the efforts of Pope John Paul II and Solidarnosc led Poland and all Eastern Europe to democracy, but it was not the social idea of Solidarnosc that substituted the communist dictatorship. Indeed the end of the Cold War became an opportunity for a revenge of the economic liberal ideology, that seemed to be absolutely defeated after the success of Keynes’s economic political policies, starting from the New Deal onwards.
